The Top Four 2021 Wedding Trends you’ll Want to Keep in Mind While Planning your St. Barth’s Wedding
As your GO TO luxury St. Barth’s wedding planner, we are very keen on all current and upcoming wedding trends. Outside of our vast experience and network, our team takes the time to do in depth research, and we invest quite a bit in doing so. This is because every careful detail and staying ahead of the curve in the events industry are two of the hallmarks in providing truly exceptional events. Trends come and go, but some of what we are seeing has the likelihood of being here to stay longer than most. Of course this is due to the rise in Intimate weddings and the new protocols in holding events. We thought it might be helpful to go over what we are seeing with some of our own clients and beyond. Enjoy!
A Tie to Tradition, Family Heritage
Trends that I am seeing lately are really on either side of the spectrum. On one side, brides are incorporating more traditions, and on the other side there are more new age type components. The traditionalists are highlighting smaller groups with more intimate details and things that are a little bit more symbolic of family, i.e. using your grandmother's China, family silver, wedding dress, or the like. As people have spent more and more time in smaller intimate groups, usually with family in general, we are not surprised by this trend. You're going to keep it small, but you're going to keep it fabulous, with each part of the event having a very symbolic meaning, along with a traditional dress and in general, more traditions. Classic and timeless. Even before this we had swoon, swoon, Princess Beatrices wedding in July.
Out with the Old, in with the New: The New-age Bride
You also have your other Brides that are on the further part of the spectrum that are going to be non-traditionalists. Maybe they're going to have crystal centerpieces, and horoscope readings for guests to create a more a new age vibe. Speaking of, one of our favorite astrologists, Spiritual Balance, is located in the US Virgin Islands and is available for your event. As we see a lot of “disruption” to the status quo nowadays we expect there to be more and more of this type of wedding. Lots of color and vibe.
The bride may not be wearing white, and perhaps instead of carrying the traditional bouquet she is wearing her bouquet (see the amazing shoot by EPIC Presentations and Soleil Creative, showcasing this trend here), or maybe there is a far-out stargazing picnic at night. I also think all in one arrival bags or baskets that have all of your wedding needs inside are going to be the norm. Everything contained to a family or to a couple. This speaks to the times and non-traditionalism, so it works rather nicely.
Smaller, More Intimate and Spic and Span
Overall, weddings will be smaller (See Microweddings), more catering to enclaves , and keeping things clean, tidy and low-touch will be a must. All guests will be rapid tested on arrival with cocktails while you wait for your results. Many touch points will be more butler styled service so as to limit the amount of people you have to interact with. Again, playing to the intimate wedding in times of COVID, a high emphasis on mask wearing, (and there have been some beautiful ones), and social distancing with those outside of your “enclave”. Another food trend we are noticing is grab-and-go items for guests, including grab-and-gourmet donuts.
Love Overcomes All
The most important thing I am seeing is that now, perhaps more than ever with the heightened insecurities we are facing as a world, is that love always wins. I think we are all realizing the importance of cherishing our relationships now more than ever. People are not going to avoid getting married altogether, we are just coming up with new and innovative ways to do things, just as we are in general right now. Love overcomes all.
