Environmental Awareness on St. Barth's Through Surfing, Swimming and Horseback Riding | EPIC Awareness
We are so excited to share our most recent effort to bring environmental awareness to our clients. We want to encourage everyone to get involved, donate, have a tour, and dive deep into a few undiscovered areas of St. Barths. We want to give back to the island that continues to give to us on every level. Physical, emotional and many times, spiritual.
Here are a few organizations that we are partnering with to encourage environmental and Historic Education to our guests.
Surf St.Barths Lorient
David Blanchard and his team of guys at the Surf Shack in Lorient are passionate about teaching people about surfing and so much more. These guys are making surfing accessible to people of all ages—and they make it fun. On any given day they can have up to 40 kids, as well as private lessons, going. More importantly, they are deeply kind and caring about what they are doing. Making everyone feel welcome and at ease.
The surf at Lorient is perfect for your “I have never surfed before” kid, or someone like me who has always wanted to surf but never took the time to learn. They instill confidence in even the shyest child and most awkward adults, and they do it gently.
The experience they are giving, is helping to preserve Lorient beach and it’s rich history. There is a natural ocean rhythm and vibe that they are teaching to everyone who gets in the water with them.
Additionally, we are partnering with David ( Born and raised in St. Barths) to give you the opportunity to meet a few St.Barths locals and to hear the history of this island treasure. Ask us about this experience.
St. Barths Coral Restoration Project
St. Barth Coral Restoration is an association for which its work consists mainly in restoring and preserving the coral reefs of Saint Barthélemy. They also work to restore and preserve the vegetation on various beaches of the island that are of great importance for the nesting of sea turtles. The association is assisted and recognized by the best marine biologists who, in their respective sectors, have launched restoration programs.
To date, more than a dozen nurseries have been set up all around our island and thousands of corals thus implanted during your dives, you will have the opportunity to discover, and consequently to admire, the extraordinary evolution of these corals without, of course, forgetting to capture the diversity of marine fauna that surrounds it.
Do not hesitate to show generosity towards the foundation. A participation, however small, allows us to ensure the future of our work for the protection of coral reefs and the great pleasure of divers.
The Centre Equestre Galops des Îles
This little horse farm took a huge hit by Hurricane Irma. They are coming back, albeit slowly. This little place is above Govenour and unless you are with a guide you will not find it. They currently have 7 shetland ponies, Chickens, one black Stallion, a goat name Olaf and a few other surprises. Locals go every day to help with the upkeep and to care for the animals. It is fun for kids, and our hope is that it will continue to get back on its feet.
With all of our help it will get there.
We are urging everyone to consider contributing to one of the above organizations. Each one is near and dear to us and they are all truly making a difference on St. Barths.
