Dreaming of St. Barths?
I want to give you the vibe of St. Barths.
….It is casual yet resort fashion, small, yet global, it is old Caribbean with a chic vibe. It is go slow or fast or whatever you want, as anything pretty much goes.
It is the free feeling that you get when you are driving with the top down and the music blasting, but also it is everything luxury in an effortless way.
It is delicious pastry, rosé and everything French.
People talk about places being energy vortexes. St. Barth’s is an energy illuminator and love maker. It is highly vibrational without the frenetic energy. We wanted this shoot to be representative of the times and of everything that we have going on right now. The freedom to try something new. To pair it down to a micro wedding, easy, spontaneous, intimate and barefoot if you want.
The Models
Hugo Allard was the perfect choice for our surfer groom. Hugo is usually on the other side of the camera and he was surprised when I asked him, but he was the perfect fit for Angelina, our one of a kind fun beauty from the Virgin Islands. Hugo, is what we all want to be on our wedding day. RELAXED. He is the high St. Barths vibe with the ready to surf, scooter, drink wine, watch the sunset, and smile. That is what he brought to the shoot.
Angelina Torchia brought her pure natural beauty to the shoot, we could see her getting hitched just like this. We want couples to know that they could get married in the morning and surf all day or get married in the evening after surfing all day. I guess the surf itself would make this choice for our eloping/ micro wedding couples. The Surf always decides.
As we walked down the beach we could feel how we would want our couples to feel on their day. Easy and with a feeling of love without a care in the world. Only thoughts for each other and for all the nature that surrounded them.
The Vendors
Many of the things that we are focused on behind the scenes is how we are navigating this new era and what it looks and feels like. That being said, we love to work with local vendors. We are fortunate, as St. Barths has some of the best in the world. We talked with Claire and Maureen from B-Florals and discussed what we thought would be interesting and relevant. How floral artistry and art in general seems more important right now. How everything needs to have meaning but it also needs to feel light. We wanted intricate details that are nontraditional. We chose to go with an option of intricate floral art jewelry. A custom neckpiece and back piece with a matching floral bracelet.
We did away with the traditional bridal bouquet and enhanced the eyelet dress from Malol with these one-of-a-kind pieces. Malol is a local dress shop that is owned and operated by Lola Stakelborough next door to her dad, Eddy’s restaurant, right in the heart of Gustavia. She grew up in St. Barths and has the most amazing and adorable shop. If you are on St. Barths you will not want to miss it. She has some amazing designers that only she carries. I love every piece.
Fianna from Soleil Creative, a marketing studio in the Virgin Islands and Florida (available worldwide), shot the day for us.
We would love to help plan your COVID-free event in St. Barths whether it is a micro wedding, beach gala, or you name it. Everyone is doing things their own way these days for their own reasons, and we respect that. We make sure our team and our clients all feel safe and enjoy the precious moments that we have.
