The Hottest thing to Come out of 2020 | Gyp Sea Beach, St. Barths
St Barths is calling… but most especially, the newly opened Gyp Sea Beach. This addition to the St. Jean beach scene is the hottest thing to come out of 2020.
They opened on December 14th and if you are lucky and book now you can get a seat possibly before the New year…possibly. After spending the last two days there I can easily see why. Gyp Sea has it all. It is all about beaching and lunching, AKA Blunching, yes, yes I said Blunching. You can easily flow from your lunch table to a beach lounge and then you are a two step saunter into the crystal clear blue water.
This International scene is everything that winter in St. Barths has always been. Yacht tenders depositing guests on the shoreline, mokes pulling up to be valeted, maxi dresses, and all the while everyone is moving to the chic beats of the in-house DJ.
Gyp Sea flows- the layout works. Their large expansive bar makes way to tables under the amazing wood structure that was brought in piece by piece from Megeve. Gyp Sea was developed by Maison and Hotels Sibuet. They have Villa Marie a 21 suite boutique hotel nestled into the hillside in Columbier St. Barths. As a side note, Villa Marie was one of the first places I stayed on my return to St. Barths in 2018. This family-owned-dream will have its own blog all to itself in the next few weeks but know that they have the best avocado toast I have ever been lucky enough to eat.
The success of Gyp Sea is a result of vision, hard work, and incredible attention to detail. Some of the details include the hand-embroidered napkins, handmade plates, hand-thrown ceramic water pitchers, French farmhouse type antique designed cutlery, and pillows and pillows… and more pillows. A mix of blues, dots, stripes, prints, captains chairs with alternating blues, bringing in comfort and chic.
This is the place to be scene ( Seen) this winter.
The food is a Mediterranean mix with a Caribbean dream thrown in. As I spent the day blunching. I was often passed by a fisherman bringing in lobster to be grilled fresh from the sea. I dined on dips, and falafel to my vegetarian’s heart’s content, and the deconstructed Cesar salad was a huge success with its grilled Romain and fresh anchovies. The menu and the food did not disappoint.
This creative clan has also put together the most incredible boutique. OAS Company, LEM LEM, Favela Market, and Nous Antwerp to name a few. This is the place to get a new must-have frock. I just can’t tell you what a visual, textured fantasy this is, you are going to have to see it for yourself.
Please let us know when you are going and we will do our best to get you the best seat in the house. Oh yeah, that is ANY seat in the Gyp Sea. See you soon!
Don’t forget they are going to be open for NYE. Ok bye.
Love always,
JJ
